Any existing Boot Camp installation is probably unaffected. We speculate that any disk already formatted Mac OS Extended Journalled will not get this error. Mac OS 10.14.4 no longer offers Mac OS Extended Journaled as a formatting option when erasing the disk. Manually invoking Action | Download Windows Support Software does not experience this error. This occurs if the disk is formatted APFS, whether encrypted or not.
Summary: Boot Camp Assistant fails with error if disk is formatted APFS.Īfter extensive testing at the Apple Store we were able to determine that Boot Camp Assistant terminates with a fatal error whilst trying to write the newly downloaded Windows Support Software to disk.
